One
of the priorities of the Parish is the education and social promotion of the
refugees.
Most
of energies are spent for the welfare of children.
The
Parish runs directly four educational centres.
Besides
this, the Parish is committed to the Human promotion of adults through
different courses and activities, women empowerment, literacy, computer
courses, sewing courses, English courses, sport activities, vocational
training…
One
of the expressions of our Christian commitment is solidarity with the poorest
of the Parish.
The
Parish tries to face alongside with the people the health care and some
emergency situations.
Sacred
Heart Parish provides with medical care the students and workers of the school.
Besides
this, some courses about AIDS have been developed.
All
this services are carried out in coordination with other organizations and
churches serving the refugees in Cairo.
A
Refugee Inter-Agency Committee includes representatives from UNHCR, the
International Organization for Migration, the International Committee of the
Red Cross, embassies of resettlement, and other refugee serving NGOs.
The
committee meets bi-monthly and acts as a forum for information sharing on
refugee matters and services.
